Delivery Methods
Manage shipping costs and integrate carriers in the sales process.
Overview
The Delivery module helps businesses manage shipping costs in the sales process with flexible configuration and diverse integration capabilities.

• Configure multiple delivery methods (Fixed Price, Based on Rules, External Providers)

Interface and main menu
Access configuration from Sales → Configuration → Delivery Methods or Inventory → Configuration → Delivery Methods.
Key points
• List view: list of all delivery methods
• Form view: detailed configuration of each method
• Kanban view: card display (if available)
Configure delivery method
Create a new delivery method by going to Sales → Configuration → Delivery Methods and clicking Create.

Delivery method types
There are 3 main delivery method types, each suitable for different needs.

Geographic restrictions
Restrict delivery methods by region to ensure only suitable methods are displayed.

Add delivery method to order
Delivery method can be added manually or automatically to orders.
Steps
1. Open Sale Order
2. Click Add Shipping or Delivery button
3. Select delivery method from list
4. System automatically calculates fee and adds "Delivery" line to order
5. Confirm order
Update shipping cost
When order changes (add/remove products, change quantity), shipping cost needs to be updated.
Steps
1. System displays warning "Delivery cost should be recomputed"
2. Click Update Shipping Cost button
3. Check new price
4. Click Apply to update
Shipping pricing rules
Applied to Based on Rules methods. Create pricing rules by opening delivery method, going to Pricing Rules tab and clicking Add a line.

Fee calculation formula
Shipping fee = Sale Base Price + (Sale Price × Variable Factor)
Free shipping
Configure free shipping when order reaches a certain value threshold.
Key points
• When eligible, delivery line displays: "Delivery Method - Free Shipping"
• Price = 0
• Customer sees "Free Shipping" notification
Steps
1. Open delivery method
2. Enable Free if order amount is above
3. Enter Amount (order value threshold)
Cash on Delivery (COD)
Activate COD by opening delivery method, enabling Cash on Delivery and saving configuration.
Key points
• COD only available for delivery methods with this feature enabled
• COD orders are automatically confirmed upon payment
• Need to reconcile with shipper after delivery
Pickup Locations
Some shipping providers support customers picking up at transaction points.
Steps
1. Customer orders online
2. Select delivery method supporting pickup
3. System displays list of pickup locations near address
4. Customer selects convenient location
5. Order is delivered to that location
Carrier integration
Odoo supports many shipping providers through integration modules.
Key points
• FedEx: delivery_fedex
• DHL: delivery_dhl

Configure provider API
Steps
1. Open delivery method
2. Enter API information: API Key / Username / Password, Account Number, Meter Number (if any)
3. Select Environment: Test (testing environment) or Production (live environment)
4. Enable Debug logging if debugging needed
Get rates and create shipment
Key points
• When adding method to order, system calls API and receives real rates
• With Integration Level = Get Rate and Create Shipment: automatically create shipment on provider system
• Receive tracking code for customer to track order
Reports and tracking
Key points
• View "Delivery" line in order
• Report Sales → Analysis → Sales Analysis
• Filter by delivery product
• Compare shipping costs between methods
• Track free shipping order rate
• Evaluate usage level of each method
Practical tips
Key points
• Update product weight: Ensure all products have accurate weight for correct fee calculation
• Check pricing rules: Test with various order scenarios
• Use margin: Add profit % to shipping fee if needed
• Conditional free shipping: Encourage customers to buy more
• Geographic restrictions: Avoid displaying methods unsuitable for customer address
• Debug logging: Enable when encountering API integration errors to see request/response details
• Test environment: Always test with testing environment before switching to production
