Quality Control in Odoo
Extend warehouse quality workflows with checks by operation, product, quantity, measurement logic, and SPC analysis.
The Quality Control module expands the base Quality app so inspections are embedded more deeply into warehouse operations. Instead of generic checks only, teams can define control points by operation, by product, or by processed quantity.
This is also where advanced capabilities appear, including measurements with tolerances, fractional lot testing, spreadsheet-driven inspections, and SPC reporting for process stability analysis.
For the broader foundation, start from the Quality overview.
Highlights
Key points
• Create quality points by operation, product, or quantity to control the right inspection level.
• Use test types such as pass-fail, measure, picture, or worksheet depending on process complexity.
• Set control frequency to All, Randomly, Periodically, or On-demand.
• Evaluate measurements with Norm, Min Tolerance, and Max Tolerance so Odoo can score the result automatically.
• Inspect only a sample of a lot with testing percentages to reduce effort while preserving control.
• Analyze results through SPC charts and spreadsheet-based inspection flows when more detailed data is needed.
Important terms
| Fields | Trường dữ liệu | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Control per | Kiểm tra theo | Defines whether a check applies by operation, by product, or by quantity. |
| Control Frequency | Tần suất kiểm tra | Rules that decide when Odoo should create a quality check. |
| Operation | Hoạt động | One check for the entire operation or document. |
| Product | Sản phẩm | One check for each matching product. |
| Quantity | Số lượng | Checks tied to a specific processed quantity or move line. |
| Norm | Chuẩn | Target value used in measurement-based checks. |
| Min Tolerance | Dung sai tối thiểu | Lower allowed threshold for a measurement check. |
| Max Tolerance | Dung sai tối đa | Upper allowed threshold for a measurement check. |
| Testing Percentage | Phần trăm kiểm tra | Sampling percentage used for fractional lot testing. |
| Standard Deviation | Độ lệch chuẩn | SPC metric used to evaluate process variation. |
Set up a quality point
Steps
1. Open Quality → Quality Control Points and create a new control point.
2. Choose a Product or Product Category if the rule should be limited in scope.
3. Select the Operation Type so the check is attached to receipts, deliveries, or internal transfers.
4. Pick Control per as Operation, Product, or Quantity depending on how checks should be generated.
5. Choose the Test Type such as Pass-Fail, Measure, or Picture and fill the related settings.
6. Set the Control Frequency to decide whether checks run every time, randomly, periodically, or on demand.
7. Save the quality point so Odoo can create matching quality checks automatically.
Perform a quality check
Steps
1. Open a warehouse transfer with pending quality checks or go to Quality → Quality Checks.
2. Launch the inspection wizard from the document or directly from the check list.
3. For Pass-Fail, mark Pass or Fail based on the result.
4. For Measure, enter the measured value and let Odoo compare it against Norm and tolerances.
5. For Picture, upload or capture the image evidence.
6. Finish each check until the wizard is complete and the main document can continue.
Quantity checks and lot sampling
Key points
• When Control per = Quantity, Odoo creates checks per move line or processed quantity.
• Fractional lot testing lets teams inspect only a percentage of the lot instead of the whole lot.
• This is useful for large homogeneous lots or workflows that rely on statistical sampling.
• If failed items are found, the quality check can serve as a validation gate before the transfer proceeds.
Measurements and SPC
Key points
• Measure checks are ideal for weight, dimension, temperature, or other threshold-based technical values.
• SPC tracking helps teams detect drift and instability over time before failures become systemic.
• Combining measurements with quality alerts moves the process from defect detection toward prevention.
When to use worksheets or spreadsheets
Key points
• Use worksheets when an inspection needs multiple custom fields, comments, and richer validation logic.
• Use spreadsheets when the quality team works comfortably in grid-style data entry and needs more complex tracking.
• If the process should collect data from hardware automatically, move to Quality Control IoT.
Rollout tips
Key points
• Start with high-value control points such as incoming materials, outgoing finished goods, or products with known defect risk.
• Enable Randomly or Periodically only after the sampling policy is clearly agreed with the quality team.
• For measurements, define units and tolerance thresholds carefully before training users.
• Use quality alerts for failed checks that require investigation rather than letting failures stop at data entry only.
