Odoo Quality user guide
Set up control points, perform quality checks, and manage alerts to standardize quality assurance workflows in Odoo.
The Quality module is Odoo’s foundation for quality management, allowing teams to define control points, automatically generate quality checks, and track issues across inventory, manufacturing, and related workflows.
From quality points and quality checks to quality alerts and quality teams, the module embeds quality assurance directly into day-to-day operations instead of treating it as a separate afterthought.
For deeper workflow coverage, continue with Quality Control, Quality MRP, and Quality IoT.
Core capabilities
Key points
• Define automatic quality control points for inventory, manufacturing, and related operations.
• Generate quality checks when receipts, deliveries, manufacturing orders, or other matching transactions occur.
• Manage quality alerts to track root causes, corrective actions, and ownership.
• Organize work with quality teams so responsibility is clear across operators, supervisors, and quality managers.
• Extend the workflow with modules such as Quality Control, Quality MRP, IoT, Worksheet, and Repair.

Main navigation and views
Users usually enter the Quality app from the main application switcher and then work with check lists, alerts, and control point configuration.
Key points
• Quality Checks: the list of pending or completed checks.
• Quality Alerts: issue tracking for cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Control Points: configuration rules for automatic checks.
• Configuration: quality teams, alert stages, root causes, and tags.
• Common views include Kanban, List, Form, and Activity depending on the record type.
Basic control point setup
Steps
1. Open Quality → Control Points and click New to create a new control point.
2. Enter the title, products or product categories, operation type, and the test type that fits the workflow.
3. Assign a team and a responsible user if the check should be routed immediately.
4. Add concise execution guidance in the Instructions area.
5. Save the record so Odoo can generate quality checks automatically when matching transactions occur.
Typical operational flow
Steps
1. Odoo creates quality checks automatically when receipts, deliveries, manufacturing orders, or related flows match an active control point.
2. Operators open the quality check from a workflow wizard or from the Quality Checks list.
3. They perform the required test, such as instructions, picture, pass-fail, or measurement.
4. If a defect is found, they mark the check as failed and create a quality alert to document the issue and corrective actions.
5. Once all required checks are completed, the main business flow such as transfer validation or production completion can continue.
Searching, filtering, and monitoring
Key points
• Filter quality checks by To do, Passed, or Failed to prioritize work quickly.
• Group quality alerts by stage, responsible person, or root cause to monitor resolution progress.
• Use quality teams to split ownership and visibility across departments.
• Watch for recurring failures to decide whether control points or inspection guidance should be adjusted.
Practical rollout tips
Key points
• Create control points only for meaningful risk areas so users are not overwhelmed with unnecessary checks.
• Keep instructions short, concrete, and easy to follow on the shop floor or in the warehouse.
• Separate receipt, delivery, manufacturing, and repair checks clearly so records stay understandable.
• Use quality alerts for issues that need investigation and corrective action, not just as a generic failure marker.
• When the workflow becomes more advanced, extend it with Worksheet or IoT to reduce manual entry and increase consistency.
