Batch Picking by Carrier
Automatically batch transfers by carrier and weight limits to optimize delivery processes.
Overview
The Delivery Stock Picking Batch module connects batch picking functionality with carrier management, helping optimize packing and delivery processes.
Key points
• Automatically batch transfers by carrier
• Set maximum weight limits for each batch
• Optimize packing and delivery processes
• Avoid exceeding carrier weight limits
Module dependencies
This module is automatically installed when both stock_delivery (Delivery Management) and stock_picking_batch (Batch Picking) are present.

Configure operation type
Access configuration from Inventory → Configuration → Operation Types, select delivery operation type (e.g., Delivery Orders) and open Batch Transfers tab.
Steps
1. Go to Inventory → Configuration → Operation Types
2. Select delivery operation type (e.g., Delivery Orders)
3. Open Batch Transfers tab
4. Enable Create Batch Transfers Automatically
5. Check Carrier to batch by carrier
6. Enter Maximum weight if weight limit needed
Batch by carrier
When this feature is enabled, transfers with the same carrier will be batched together. Transfers without carrier will be batched separately.
Key points
• Separate goods by carrier from picking stage
• Reduce confusion during packing and delivery
• Easy to print shipping labels per batch
• Batch name automatically includes carrier name
Batch weight limits
Configure weight limits to avoid exceeding carrier capacity.
Key points
• System calculates total weight of transfers in batch
• New transfer only added to batch if total weight ≤ limit
• If exceeded, transfer will create new batch
• Set value to 0 for no weight limit
Steps
1. Go to Inventory → Configuration → Operation Types
2. Select delivery operation type
3. Batch Transfers tab: Enter Maximum weight (e.g., 30 kg)
4. Unit displays automatically according to system configuration
Automatic batching process
Transfers are batched together when meeting the following conditions.
Key points
• Same operation type
• Same carrier (if Carrier feature enabled)
• Does not exceed maximum weight (if configured)
• Same source and destination locations
• Same partner (if configured to batch by partner)
Manual batching
If manual batching is needed, follow these steps.
Steps
1. Go to Inventory → Operations → Batch Transfers
2. Select New
3. Add transfers to Detailed Operations tab
4. System will warn if weight limit exceeded
Tips for reasonable weight configuration
Key points
• Based on carrier: Each carrier has different weight limits
• Consider processing capacity: Ensure warehouse staff can process batch in reasonable time
• Buffer: Set limit 10-15% lower than actual limit to avoid exceeding
• Example: DHL Express limit 31.5 kg → Configure Maximum weight = 28 kg (11% buffer)
Benefits of batching by carrier
Key points
• Always enable Carrier feature if using multiple carriers
• Helps avoid confusion when printing labels and delivering
• Easy to track shipping costs per batch
• Optimize packing process
Check product weight
Key points
• Ensure all products have accurate weight
• Go to Inventory → Products → Products
• Check Weight field in Inventory tab
• Update weight if missing or inaccurate
Monitor performance
Key points
• View batch transfer reports: Inventory → Reporting → Batch Transfers
• Track number of transfers per batch
• Evaluate average processing time
• Compare efficiency between carriers
Handle special cases
Key points
• Overweight transfer: If a transfer exceeds weight limit, it will create separate batch. Consider splitting transfer into smaller ones.
• Change carrier: If carrier changes after batching, need to remove transfer from old batch. System will automatically find suitable new batch.
