Configure IoT devices

Before use, IoT Box must be connected to the Odoo system.

Steps

  • 1. Connect IoT Box to network

  • 2. Access IoT → IoT Boxes

  • 3. Confirm IoT Box is successfully connected

  • 4. Connect hardware devices (scales, printers) to IoT Box

Check devices

Steps

  • 1. Go to IoT → Devices

  • 2. Confirm devices are detected: Electronic scales (type = Scale), Printers (type = Printer)

  • 3. Check connection status of each device

Configure electronic scales

Link scales with operation types to use in packing process.

Steps

  • 1. Go to Inventory → Configuration → Operation Types

  • 2. Select operation type to configure (e.g., Delivery Orders)

  • 3. Scroll down to Scales section

  • 4. In Connect Scale field, select electronic scale from list

  • 5. Can select multiple scales for one operation type

  • 6. Click Save

Operation types supporting scales

Scales can be configured for the following operation types.

Key points

  • Receipts

  • Delivery Orders

  • Internal Transfers

  • Note: Not supported for Manufacturing Operations

Use scale during packing

Packing process with electronic scale automatically measures weight.

Steps

  • 1. Open Delivery Order

  • 2. Confirm product quantity

  • 3. Click Put in Pack to pack

  • 4. In packing wizard: Select Package Type

  • 5. If carrier exists, Scale field will display

  • 6. Select scale from list (if multiple scales) or system auto-selects if only 1 scale

  • 7. Place package on scale

  • 8. Weight automatically updates in Shipping Weight field

  • 9. Click Apply to complete

Scale display conditions

Scale field only displays when meeting the following conditions.

Key points

  • Package Type selected or Result Package exists

  • Carrier assigned

  • Operation type has scale configured

Manual weighing

If scale supports manual measurement, weight can be entered manually in the field. System does not automatically read from scale in this case.

Auto-print shipping labels

Configure to automatically print shipping labels when created from carrier.

Steps

  • 1. Go to Inventory → Configuration → Operation Types

  • 2. Select operation type (usually Delivery Orders)

  • 3. Find Auto Print section

  • 4. Enable Carrier Labels checkbox

  • 5. Assign IoT printer to Shipping Labels report: Go to Settings → Technical → Reporting → Reports, find "Shipping Labels" report, assign IoT printer

  • 6. Click Save

How auto-print labels works

When shipping label is created from carrier, system automatically handles printing.

Key points

  • System automatically finds attachment with name starting with "Label"

  • Sends file to configured IoT printer

  • Prints automatically without manual action

Auto-print label conditions

Key points

  • Carrier must be assigned to delivery order

  • Carrier must support label creation

  • IoT printer must be assigned to "Shipping Labels" report

  • "Auto Print Carrier Labels" checkbox must be enabled

Auto-print export documents

Configure to automatically print export documents for international orders.

Steps

  • 1. Go to Inventory → Configuration → Operation Types

  • 2. Select operation type (usually Delivery Orders)

  • 3. Find Auto Print section

  • 4. Enable Export Documents checkbox

  • 5. Assign IoT printer to Shipping Documents report: Go to Settings → Technical → Reporting → Reports, find "Shipping Documents" report, assign IoT printer

  • 6. Click Save

How auto-print documents works

When export document is created, system automatically prints.

Key points

  • System automatically finds attachment with name starting with "ShippingDoc"

  • Sends file to configured IoT printer

  • Prints automatically without manual action

Notes on export documents

Key points

  • Not all carriers provide export documents

  • Only applies to international orders (depends on carrier and destination)

  • Need to check with carrier about document availability

Tips for using electronic scales

Key points

  • Regular calibration: Ensure scale accuracy by calibrating regularly

  • Stable placement: Place scale on flat surface, avoid vibration

  • Check connection: If scale not working, check IoT Box connection

  • Multiple scales: If multiple packing areas, configure multiple scales for same operation type

Tips for using auto-print

Key points

  • Check printer: Ensure printer has sufficient paper and ink

  • Test manual print: Before enabling auto-print, test manual print to ensure correct configuration

  • Assign correct report: Ensure printer assigned to correct report (Labels vs Documents)

  • Only enable when needed: Only enable auto-print for operation types that truly need it to avoid paper waste

Troubleshooting

Key points

  • Scale not reading: Check IoT Box status, restart device if needed

  • Not auto-printing: Check if attachment exists and name is in correct format

  • Incorrect weight: Check unit of measure (kg/lb) and calibrate scale

  • Printer not responding: Check IoT Box connection and printer status
