Project Asset Management
Track fixed assets, depreciation, and allocate asset costs to projects.
The Project Account Asset module in Odoo 19 connects project management with the fixed asset system, enabling tracking of assets used in projects, depreciation calculation, and asset cost allocation.
This integration helps businesses control asset costs accurately, allocate depreciation by project, and optimize fixed asset utilization.
Activate Project Asset integration
To use asset management for projects, install the Project Account Asset module and activate integration between Project, Accounting, and Asset Management.
Steps
1. Go to Settings → Apps → Apps to manage modules.
2. Search for "Project Account Asset" or "project_account_asset".
3. Click Install to install the module.
4. After installation, go to Project → Configuration → Settings.
5. Enable "Track Assets" to track assets.
6. Configure Analytic Account for projects.
7. Click Save to save configuration.
Assign assets to projects
Each fixed asset can be assigned to one or more projects to track usage and allocate depreciation costs.
Steps
1. Go to Accounting → Assets → Assets.
2. Select asset to assign to project or create new.
3. In asset form, find "Analytic Distribution" field.
4. Select corresponding Project or Analytic Account.
5. Enter allocation percentage if asset is used for multiple projects.
6. System automatically allocates depreciation by ratio.
7. Click Save to save configuration.

Track depreciation by project
The module automatically calculates and allocates asset depreciation costs to projects according to configured ratios.
Steps
1. Go to Project → Reporting → Asset Depreciation.
2. Select project to view depreciation report.
3. System displays list of assets and depreciation.
4. View details: Asset Name, Original Value, Depreciation, Book Value.
5. Filter by time or asset type.
6. Click Export to export report.

Manage assets purchased for projects
When purchasing new assets for projects, can automatically create asset and link to project from Purchase Order or Vendor Bill.
Steps
1. Create Purchase Order for new asset.
2. Select Product with type "Asset" or "Deferred Expense".
3. In PO line, select project Analytic Account.
4. Confirm PO and receive goods.
5. When creating Vendor Bill, system automatically creates Asset.
6. Asset linked to project via Analytic Account.
7. Depreciation automatically starts from activation date.
Asset reports by project
The module provides many reports to analyze asset usage and depreciation costs by project.
