Configure IoT Box and Badge Printer

Connect IoT Box to Odoo and configure badge printer to be ready for printing.

Key points

  • If printer does not appear, check USB/WiFi connection and restart IoT Box.

  • Ensure paper is loaded correctly and printer is powered on.

Steps

  • 1. Go to IoT → IoT Boxes and connect IoT Box to Odoo (follow IoT Box guide).

  • 2. Connect label printer to IoT Box via USB or WiFi.

  • 3. Go to IoT → Devices to view detected printer.

  • 4. Open printer device and set Type to "Printer".

  • 5. Check connection status: Status must be "Connected".

  • 6. Click Test Print to verify printer works correctly.


Configure Badge Format for Events

Create custom badge template for each event with logo, colors, and display information.

Steps

  • 1. Go to Event → Configuration → Badge Formats and click New.

  • 2. Fill Name (template name, e.g., "Tech Conference 2026").

  • 3. Select Badge Size: 96x82mm (or printer-supported size).

  • 4. In Design tab, customize badge layout:

  • 5. - Upload Logo: company or event logo.

  • 6. - Background Color: badge background color.

  • 7. - Text Fields: select display information (Name, Company, Email, Job Title).

  • 8. - Font Size/Color: text size and color.

  • 9. In Preview tab, preview badge template.

  • 10. Click Save to save badge template.


Assign Badge Format and Printer to Event

  • If Auto-print is not enabled, can manually print from attendee list.

  • Can assign multiple printers for large events to increase printing speed.

Steps

  • 1. Open event to configure in Event → Events.

  • 2. In Configuration tab, find Badge Printing section.

  • 3. Select Badge Format: template created in previous step.

  • 4. Select Badge Printer: configured IoT printer.

  • 5. Enable Auto-print on Check-in if auto-printing on check-in is desired.

  • 6. Click Save to save configuration.


Check-in and Auto-print Badges

When attendees check-in at event, system auto-prints badge if Auto-print is enabled.

Key points

  • If print error occurs, status will be "Print Error" and can manually reprint.

  • Can batch check-in and print badges for multiple people simultaneously.

Steps

  • 1. Open event and go to Attendees tab.

  • 2. Click Check-in next to attendee name.

  • 3. System automatically sends print command to IoT printer.

  • 4. Printer will print badge with information: Name, Company, Email, QR Code.

  • 5. Print Status changes to "Printed".


Manual Badge Printing

Manually print badges for attendees without badges or needing reprints.

  • Can select multiple attendees and batch print.

  • Use filters to find attendees without printed badges (Print Status = Not Printed).

Steps

  • 1. Go to Event → Events and open event.

  • 2. In Attendees tab, select attendees needing badge printing.

  • 3. Click Action → Print Badges.

  • 4. Select printer (if multiple printers available).

  • 5. Click Print to send print command.

  • 6. Check print status in Print Status column.


Batch Print Badges Before Event

  • 1. Go to Event → Events and open event.

  • 2. In Attendees tab, click Print All Badges button.
