POS Sale Stock Renting module integrates product rental functionality into Odoo point of sale system, allowing staff to manage the entire rental process at the counter.

From creating rental contracts, tracking rented products, auto-calculating fees to processing returns and renewals - everything is done quickly and accurately.

How to Use

Steps

  • 1. Open POS application and login to session

  • 2. Select rental product from catalog (product must be configured as "Rental Product")

  • 3. Enter rental period: start date and end date

  • 4. System automatically calculates rental fee based on price configuration

  • 5. Add deposit if needed (optional)

  • 6. Select or create customer (required for rental contract)

  • 7. Confirm and process payment

  • 8. Print rental contract and receipt for customer

  • 9. When customer returns: scan product code, check condition, calculate additional fees (if any)

  • 10. Refund deposit and complete transaction


Scenario 1: Weekend camera rental

Customer wants to rent Canon EOS R5 camera from Friday to Sunday. Staff selects product, enters 3-day period, system calculates fee of $150. Collect $500 deposit.

When customer returns: check camera, no damage, refund $500 deposit.


Scenario 2: Monthly bicycle rental

Customer rents mountain bike for 1 month. Staff creates 30-day rental contract, fee $200/month. No deposit required for VIP customer.

After 1 month customer wants to extend for another month: staff finds old contract, selects "Extend", adds 30 days, collects additional $200.


Scenario 3: Late return with additional fees

Customer rents drill for 3 days but returns 2 days late. System automatically calculates late fee $20/day x 2 = $40.

Staff checks drill, finds broken drill bit, adds damage fee $15. Total additional fees: $55, deducted from deposit.


Scenario 4: Rent multiple products at once

Customer organizing event needs to rent: 2 microphones, 1 speaker, 1 mixer. Staff adds all to 1 order, same 2-day rental period.

System calculates total fee for all products, creates single rental contract. Upon return, scan each product to check.
