Quality Workorder IoT in Odoo

Capture measurements and trigger pass or fail directly on work orders with IoT hardware on the shop floor.

Quality Workorder IoT combines work-order quality checks with IoT hardware so shop-floor users do less manual data entry. It is a strong fit for factories that need speed, accuracy, and traceable measurement data.

Operators can read values directly from devices or use IoT triggers to launch quality actions in real time.

What this module adds

Key points

  • • Automatic measurements from scales, calipers, or sensors while the work order is being executed.

  • • Direct population of measure-based quality checks from hardware readings.

  • • IoT triggers that can fire Pass, Fail, or Take Measure actions.

  • • Less operator effort and fewer data-entry errors on the shop floor.

Key terms

FieldsTrường dữ liệuDescription
IoT TriggerKích hoạt IoTRule that links a system action to an IoT device or event.
Take MeasureLấy số đoAction that reads the current value from the measurement device.
Device IdentifierMã thiết bịUnique device reference used to target the correct hardware.
MeasurementSố đoActual value captured from the device during the operation.

Basic setup

Steps

  • 1. Connect the measurement device to the IoT Box and confirm it is Connected.

  • 2. Create a work-order quality point with Test Type = Measure.

  • 3. Select the IoT device and define Norm, Tolerance Min, and Tolerance Max.

  • 4. Save the configuration so quality checks on work orders can call the device.

How it runs on the shop floor

Steps

  • 1. Open the work order that contains a measure-based quality check.

  • 2. Place the product on or in the measurement device.

  • 3. Click Take Measure to read the value directly from hardware.

  • 4. Let Odoo compare the reading to the target thresholds and mark pass or fail.

  • 5. Continue to the next production step when the check is valid.

IoT triggers in production

Key points

  • • Pass trigger: use when a device or physical button confirms the step is good.

  • • Fail trigger: use when the process should stop and record a defect immediately.

  • • Take Measure trigger: use when a measurement should be launched automatically after a physical event.

Rollout tips

Key points

  • • Automate only the steps with repetitive measurement activity and stable technical criteria.

  • • Validate device reliability before using automatic pass or fail triggers.

  • • If the operation needs richer data than measurements alone, combine it with Quality Workorder Worksheet.
