Best practices

Key points

  • Large enough test: Use at least 20% of list for statistically significant results.

  • Long enough test: Wait at least 24-48 hours for customer response time.

  • Test one element: Only change 1 element between 2 versions (content, CTA, sending time).

  • Keep it short: 160 character limit to avoid splitting into multiple messages.

  • Be clear: State benefits and required action clearly.

  • Personalize: Use customer name and order information.

  • Strong CTA: "Buy now", "Order", "Get offer".

  • B2C: 10am-12pm and 6pm-8pm (after work hours).

  • B2B: 9am-11am and 2pm-4pm (during work hours).

  • Avoid: Weekends, holidays, too early/too late.

  • Always have unsubscribe option (STOP, UNSUB).

  • Only send to customers who opted in for SMS.

  • Don't send more than 1-2 SMS/week to same customer.
